Refund and cancellation policy
typeout is a push-to-talk dictation app for Windows and macOS, sold by Invariance, an Italian sole trader based in Bolzano. This page explains how to cancel, how to get money back, and what we do beyond what the law requires.

The free tier is the trial
typeout has a free tier with a weekly word allowance and no card required. You can install it, dictate with it, and find out whether it works for your voice, your accent and your apps without paying anything. That is the honest reason this policy can be short: nobody has to buy the product in order to evaluate it.
We would rather you stayed on the free tier for as long as you need than paid for a month to answer a question the free tier already answers.
Who takes your money
Paddle.com Market Ltd is the merchant of record for every typeout purchase. Paddle processes the payment, issues the invoice, handles tax, and pays out any refund. You can ask us for a refund or ask Paddle directly; either way, Paddle is what returns the money, and it goes back to the payment method you originally used.
Your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the EU buying at a distance, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from the contract without giving a reason.
There is a catch for digital products, and we would rather state it plainly than bury it: at checkout you are asked to consent to the subscription starting immediately and to acknowledge that doing so ends the withdrawal right. Because typeout is delivered to you the moment you pay, that consent means the statutory 14-day withdrawal right no longer applies once the service has begun. This is the standard rule for digital content, not a term we invented.
That is why we have the goodwill policy below. It exists precisely so the lapsed statutory right is not the end of the conversation.
Our goodwill refund
On top of the statutory minimum: if typeout does not work for you, or a renewal charged you when you genuinely did not want it, email us within 14 days of the charge and we will refund it. No form, no reason required, no argument.
This is our own promise rather than a legal obligation, and we intend to keep it.
How to request a refund
Email support@invariance.co with your Paddle invoice number, or just the email address you used at checkout. Telling us what went wrong helps, but it is not a condition.
Expect a reply within a few business days. Once the refund is approved, Paddle returns the money to your original payment method. Card issuers and banks usually take a further 5 to 10 business days for it to appear on your statement.
Cancelling a subscription
Subscriptions are monthly or annual and renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the Paddle customer portal, which you reach from the billing page on typeout.co. The same portal is where you update your payment method.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not cut off access: you keep using typeout until the end of the period you have already paid for. Partial periods are not pro-rated, and cancelling on its own is not a refund request — if you also want money back, email us.
Annual plans
An unused remainder of an annual plan is not automatically refundable. Cancelling an annual plan stops the next yearly renewal and leaves your access running to the end of the year you paid for.
That said, we look at annual refunds case by case. If you bought a year and something changed — the product stopped fitting your work, your team shrank, the app does not do what you needed — write to us and we will find something fair.
What we do not normally refund
Two things, stated once and without drama. A billing period you have already used substantially is not usually refunded. And repeated refund requests on the same account are not something we can keep honouring indefinitely.
Neither of these is a reason not to ask. If your situation is unusual, tell us and we will look at it.
Your statutory rights
Nothing on this page reduces the rights you have as a consumer under Italian or EU law. Where this policy is more generous, the more generous term applies; where the law gives you more, the law wins.
